Job Description

Our Property Management client is hiring a Property Accountant.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the organization's accounting processes. This includes managing financial transactions, processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank accounts, preparing journal entries, and generating monthly financial reports. The role supports property accounting operations by reviewing rent rolls, monitoring financial deadlines, and responding promptly to ownership and vendor inquiries. The Staff Accountant also plays a key role in assisting with audits, maintaining compliance with financial policies, and mentoring junior accounting team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee month-end close and reconciliation processes for accrual-based financial statements.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports, property statements, and supporting schedules.
  • Review cash balances, approve disbursements, and process loan payments.
  • Monitor and reconcile accounts receivable, accounts payable, and utility expenses.
  • Review rent rolls, Gross Potential Rent (GPR) reports, and resolve discrepancies with Property Managers.
  • Post journal entries, accruals, and recurring transactions.
  • Handle vendor inquiries, replacement reserves reimbursements, and check processing.
  • Assist with audits and support updates to policies and procedures.
  • Provide general administrative support and manage assigned projects.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting with at least four years of related experience.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
Proficiency in property management/accounting software such as Yardi.
Skilled in Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables) and other Office tools.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, adhere to deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
Benefits:

Salary range: $80,000-$85,000 annually (DOE).
